NCL lifts pre-cruise COVID-19 testing requirement

MIAMI — Norwegian Cruise Line is dropping a pandemic-era requirement that it will make taking a cruise easier for everyone.

NCL plans to no longer require each guest to present a negative COVID-19 test before cruising, unless it is required by a local government.

The updated policy takes effect August 1, 2022. It applies to all Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises sailings.

What to expect on an NCL cruise during COVID-19

“The relaxation of the testing policy is in line with the rest of the travel, leisure and hospitality industry worldwide as society continues to adapt and return to a state of normalcy,” NCL said.

NCL continues to recommend all guests test prior to travel. The company also requires most travelers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before sailing.

Cruises to Bermuda will still require pre-cruise testing. The tiny island continues to struggle to recover after being hit hard by COVID-19 two years ago.

Cruises with stops in Canada and Greece will also continue to require the pre-embarkation test.
