International travel just got a lot easier for Americans and anyone hoping to travel to the U.S.
As of 12:01 a.m. on June 12, 2022, international travelers are no longer required to test negative for COVID before entering the country.
The Biden administration announced the change in policy Friday.
It’s a change the travel industry, including the American Society of Travel Advisors, has been pushing for months.

“We are thrilled to see the end of the CDC’s inbound testing rule, which has been standing in the way of our industry’s recovery for too long,” Zane Kerby, American Society of Travel Advisors President & CEO, said.
The move is the latest step toward operating in a new normal. Many of the restrictions and requirements enacted during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic have either ended, or changed.
“We commend the Biden Administration for taking this long-overdue step and thank ASTA members across the country for their hard work in helping get this across the finish line. While plenty of challenges remain in terms of rebuilding the travel agency business, today is a great day,” Kerby said.
The CDC will continue to evaluate the latest science and state of the pandemic and will reassess the need for a testing requirement if the situation changes.
Anyone who’s had to scramble to get a test, or spent the final days of vacation waiting for results already knows what a game changer this decision is for international travelers.
