It will soon cost you a little more to trot around the globe.
The U.S. is increasing the price you’ll pay to get a passport.
Beginning April 2nd, it will cost adults $145 for a passport. Passports for those under 16 will set you back $115. That’s $10 more than it currently costs. This only applies to new passport applications.
The price to renew a passport will not change.
The extra money will be used to process passport applications. The Department of State made the decision to increase prices after determining the current fee didn’t adequately cover the cost of processing passport applications.
Of course you can apply before April and avoid the higher fee.
